Even the most self-important among us can grow weary of hearing ourselves talk about nothing but ourselves every now and then, so I’ve decided to start highlighting some contemporary artists and their work. A large part of my learning curve as I transition into being a full-time artist is seeking out and observing others who have succeeded. Rachel Bingaman is a stellar example that I want to share. This DC artist has a mesmerizing style that takes me back to the dreamscapes I imagined as a child. Her magical trees add to the enchantment that her abstract realism paintings evoke. Rachel has an excellent track record on Etsy and her work is in private and public collections all over the world. This year has brought many of the fruits of her labor via gallery representations, featured artist interviews, and one of her landscapes in a major publication coming out later this year. I’m happy to have found her through Etsy, and look forward to what 2014 delivers from this talent!
